Is it possible to find the perfect vacuum cleaner? I really question whether or not it is possible. I have been married for almost 8 years and I would venture to guess that my husband and I have roared through about 8 vacuum cleaners. From the days of having an inside puppy before we had children to the current days of 2 kids and lots of crumbs we’ve always had a use for a vacuum cleaner on an almost daily basis.
Unfortunately, every vacuum my husband and I have used so far, from the one we were given as a gift for our wedding to the last one we currently threw out the door, we have not had good luck with them. After using my mother in laws canister vacuum recently when I was without I fell in love with the ease of use that a canister brought. One of my main pet peeves with my upright vacuums of the past was their bulkiness and weight.
So, a few weeks later when I couldn’t stand it anymore and sent my husband to Sears after the perfect vacuum I opted for him to pick up me a canister. He came home with a Kenmore Magic Blue Canister. From the moment I first used it I was in love. It is super simple to use and put together, small enough to store in my small hall closet, and light enough that I don’t have a back ache after dragging it around my house. It also has two separate attachments one for carpet and one for hard surfaces.
Even better the Magic Blue set us back less than $100 on sale. They normally retail for approximately $100 and are a great value in my opinion.
I have been in the vacuum business for nearly 18 years. the kenmore magic blue may do an adequate job on bare floors but with only a turbo nozzle to remove ground in dirt on carpets it leaves a lot to be desired. Its final disgrace is that like most discount store vacuums the motor is not a sealed unit. It spews extremely high concentrations of fine dust particlals back into the air. You can test this yourself by putting your hand at the cord winder outlet while the unit is running. Sears makes claims that a lot of their vacuums are hepa rated but why do they bypass the hepa filter and funnel exhaust this dust back into the air. A better unit would be a miele s4 or a riccar sunburst. You can take your magic blue vacuum to any reputable vacuum shop that has a laser partical scanner and have it tested for yourself. This is very important if you have any one in the home with breathing difficullties and especially now with the recent swine flu concern
Hey Joe, thanks for telling us about that. I have never given much thought to my vacuums until 5 months ago. I know it sounds so corny now but that Kirby girl really did open my eyes to several things.
I had no idea how sucky most of the vacuums off the shelf were. The most basic thing – the design or most is flawed.
