Stay On Top of That Storm

Friday, September 19th, 2008

If you live anywhere along the path or hurricanes like I do, you’ll definitely want to be on the watch out for those nasty storms. I’ve been living in eastern North Carolina, minutes away from the beach for 8 years. Every year, my husband makes sure I know what’s going on during hurricane season.

I usually like to check out pictures and animated graphics compared to reading those cryptic text advisories from the NOAA. I cannot understand those. Now, I have another tool to use. Thanks to Annette, who tweeted about Stormpulse on Twitter. Beautiful tracker. Love it.

Prediciting the Weather

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

About a year ago I got my father in law a 5-Day Wireless Weather Forecaster for his cabin up North. He loves it! When your day is rotated around the weather outside, this forecaster helps plan your week. He checks it before heading out to do chores, or especially before a day of fishing.

The forecaster directly beams AccuWeather.com® forecasts for real time forecasts. The forcaster displays the daily highs and lows along with icons showing the weather conditions (e.g. sunny, rainy, cloud, snow, wind etc…). It also has a self setting clock that displays the time. Setting this forecaster up is a breeze, no computer, television or wires are needed. The forecaster can be mounted on a wall or set outside on a table with its built in stand, or attached to metal with its internal magnet.

If you live in a place where it is sunny one minute then rainy the next, this is the perfect tool for planning your day. This is also a great for teaching kids more about the weather.

Cool Wraps

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Cool Downz, Cool Wraps, there are many names for them and brands that exist but these handy cooling neck pieces make it a breeze to get cooled off in the scorching heat of summer. What else is better than having something soothing and cool around your neck and near your face, helping you to cool down after being out in the heat or you can wear it from the start of going out and hopefully be able to stay cooler than you would have initially without it.

Cool DownzMost of these neck pieces require no assembly, and you only need water to make them work. You soak them in water and place them on your neck. They in turn can keep you cool for hours. The wraps are not only good for hot weather, but also for sprains and other aches and pains. Once you begin using one you’re sure to have more uses.

But, with the summer’s hot temps one of the best ways I know how to use it is against the heat!
