George Foreman Grill: Thumbs Up

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

george-foreman-grill It’s probably been 4 years since we received the George Foreman Grill from my brother-in-law as a Christmas gift. It was still pretty new then. With my husband newly diagnosed as having heart disease, I was very pleased indeed to cook his favorite foods like burgers in a more healthy yet flavorful way.

Fast forward 4 years, I just used it 10 minutes ago. Tossed some burgers on there and had it cooked in a few short minutes. My house still smells wonderful of grilled food.

My only gripe is, wish I have the newer model where you can take the grilling plates out to wash. Mine being the first generation (I think), is not removable which makes cleaning a bit of a challenge but it’s still not as bad as cleaning a regular grill.

But generally, the grill is well built, works nice and I really like it.

A Milk Frother that Tastes Just Like a Cappuccino Machine

Monday, August 11th, 2008

img66mFor Christmas last year I requested a Primo Milk Frother, thinking it would be a good stocking stuffer. Move over Starbucks, I can not believe how much I love my frother! This cordless gadget transforms hot milk into a rich, creamy topping for lattes, cappuccinos and other beverages. But I also use it to mix creamer into my morning coffee, or stir any sauces I am heating slowly over the oven. It can be used for kitchen purposes also, such as quickly mixing eggs with milk for scrambled eggs, or smoothing out small lumps of batter. The uses are endless!

The frothing coils are stainless-steel, and the ergonomic handle makes it easy to hold while mixing. It is easy to store in its light weight stand-up holder. Best of all no cords! It requires 2 AA batteries. The removable stem is machine washable.

Forget spending tons of money on cappuccinos or lattes, this Primo Milk Frother is well…PRIMO

Double or Single?

Double or single, refrigerator that is….which one do you prefer? As a newly wed my husband and I purchased the cheapest thing we could find I am sure. It was a single fridge, no ice maker, no extras. It kept the food cold but that was about it. It wore out of course and we were faced with another purchase, this time should we opt for another single door or go for the double?

We weighted our options. Our appliance color choice had changed since the purchase of our first fridge, and the fridge no longer matched the stove, dishwasher and microwave which were now bright white while the fridge was biscuit. Then, we knew we wanted ice and water in the door, so that was something we would have to consider as a feature and a cost. Finally, we wanted something energy efficient as well. Upon going shopping we were able to find it all and it turned out to be a double.

The double is great! Spacious, complimentary in color to our other appliances and with all the bells and whistles. So, which do you prefer? Double or Single?

Greatest Kitchen Tool?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

The Crockpot, could it quite possibly be the greatest kitchen tool ever invented? Many ladies are thrilled to possess a crockpot because of its ease of use and the fact that it allows them to have a hot, healthy meal available for their family the moment they walk in the door from work, or after their child’s busy afternoon of sports and other activities.

Dinner is in the CrockpotThe Crockpot allows us as wives and mothers to prepare a meal without all the work, simply plop in the right ingredients, set it to the proper setting, put the cover on and go. It sure can make a woman’s life easier. Plus, there are tons of crockpot recipes available out there in literally every cuisine you can think of and almost anything can be cooked in the crockpot if done correctly.

Another added bonus to the crockpot is that many of them now come with timers that will allow you to start the meal even when you’re not actually there with it 4 hours before you need it to be done. Not only that but the crockpot’s ability to hold in moisture can turn any tough piece of meat into a tender juicy mouthwatering meal.

There are so many pluses to this kitchen tool that it just might be the greatest kitchen gadget out there for busy moms? What do you think?
