Review: Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner
by Lynette
A few months ago, I succumbed to the lure of this gadget. Yuppers! I hate cleaning the bathroom. We also have an older house where the showers are fitted with tiles. Major woes gleaning the grout. When we have the cash to re-model our bathroom those are the first things to go.
I picked up the starter kit with one sprayer and 2 bottles of refill. What’s the verdict? I really don’t know for sure. My shower is not less dirty, that part is true but neither is it shining and spotless less the commercials claim.
But then again, I hung it in a lesser used shower. Maybe it would have been a better review if I’d put it in the other shower which really gets used. However, I did notice the rails are cleaner - we have sliding glass doors and the rails just get so much gunk.
A few observances.
- It’s tricky to hang if you don’t have a conventional shower head. Too high and it only gets the walls, too low and you miss the top.
- You can’t get it all. I suppose it’s supposed to drip down the sides and flow down to the tub so that’s how it ‘cleans’ the tub. Still, it would be kinda of like a streaky effect wouldn’t it? That’s where it really helps to use it every day.
- You really should exercise some elbow grease once in a while. This only helps you keep it decent in between real cleanings.
- Call me when someone invents Roomba for the bathroom.

I agree with all of that. I put it in our regularly used shower and don’t think it is that great. I used what I had and then took it out of the shower. So disappointed!

Hey Tsoniki, I haven’t taken it out yet. But glad I’m not ‘hallucinating’ about the results.

Hubby wanted to get it (well, he wanted the Rumba as well) but I refused….LOL. Nothing beat elbow grease but you have to have the time to do it.

And lots of motivation too! Although I heard the Roomba is pretty good.

They used to have these in the old gym I worked out at, and the showers were always spotless, but I never could understand how they could work so well. Anytime I’ve used any kind of spray on cleaner, yes it does that streaky action. I figured that fine mist was just SO fine so as to not cause that, but now after reading this, I’m thinking that someone was in there scrubbing away, after hours. LOL!
