Magnetic Paint Anyone?

by Lynette

Ok, not exactly a gadget, but I found this so intriguing. I knew about chalkboard paint but not magnetic paint and magnetic chalkboard paint too!

We have a hallway in our home I’ve been toying with the idea of painting the wall of this long narrow space with chalkboard paint in the hope (yeah right) that my little ones would quit using chalk on my walls. Besides it’s fun! But now they are in school, All those papers and artwork. Oh my! So this Magnamagic magnetic paint thing really caught my eye. What better way to display their artwork than on the walls without sticking or pins. Also,
their store carries fun magnets and magnet puzzles. Even gave me a few ideas since I have a couple of magnetic printable sheets.

I don’t know if I will be able to convince DH to go for it. But if he does, I think I’d go with the magnetic coating and then a coat of white board paint on top. Less dust to deal with than chalk.

    Hi Lynette -
Magnetic paint does sound like a very cool idea — my mom is the director of the preschool my kids go to and they used it on one of the walls in my dh’s classroom. They have some fun magnets on the wall - but, the magnetic paint isn’t strong enough to hold any papers with them. I don’t know if there are different kinds - but something to look into.

    Hey Jenni,

Yeah I read a couple of blogs and they say it’s not that strong. I went through their instructions and they actually recommend several coatings for more holding power.

    I don’t know about a wall but I think it’ll be cool for like a door ;-)
