Hot Water Pot Great Especially For New Moms
by Lynette
Last night, my husband and parents were talking about a kitchen gadget we can’t live without today. It was our first born’s baby shower gift. Surprise, it’s our hot
water pot. How in the world did we get so attached to a hot water pot? Well, first, it’s not a regular hot water pot.
Growing up, I’ve always had one like that in our home. My husband and most people who come to our home have never seen one like it. You see, it boils the water and keeps it a boiling point, all day, 24 hours, 7 days a week, provided the electric is kept on of course. It uses very little electricity too. It was a huge help when our kids were babies.
We used it to quickly disinfect a pacifier or toy that fell on the floor (remember it’s boiling hot), to make milk if we had to use formula. When I breast fed, we used it to warm up the milk, warm up baby food without the microwave. Used it with some cold water to soak cotton or small towels so we’d have instant warm cloths to clean the baby.
Now our kids are a little older, we still use it several times a day every day. For a cup of coffee, tea or herbal drink. It’s also great for cup noodles or cook instant rolled oats. I use it to help my cooking. Example, when I have to boil water to cook something that calls for hot water, I get the water from the hot water pot then put it on the stove and get a jump start on cooking. So many uses it’s incredible. I highly recommend it for any household, dorm room or office. Our friends and family are always
impressed by it. If you know a new mother and would like to get her something useful this holiday, get her this.
If you’re worried about safety, many of them today come with a automatic lock. For example, mine is on a locked state all the time. If you want hot water, you push a button to unlock it and press dispense. I can manually lock it after or it will automatically lock after 1 minute.
Just a note though, there are cheaper ones you can get like $30 but I do not recommend them. Remember I said I’ve had them all my life? Well the cheaper ones usually break in a year or less. I have a Panasonic and it’s been faithfully dispensing hot water for 5 years, every day. Another brand Zojirushi is also reputed to be good but I’ve not tried it.

Hey Annette,
It’s an Asian thing
When I met my brother-in-law for the first time, I noticed he and his wife boiled a small kettle of water every morning for their coffee and they only take instant. It was so tiresome just waiting on it to boil and then that small kettle can only make so many cups of beverages. I kept wishing we brought the water pot the whole visit.
He finally saw it when he visited us this year and loved it.
