Emailing A Non Techie Grandma

by Lynette

I must admit to me this is the toughest part in our family’s life. While my parents are OK with computers, my in-laws are another thing. Let’s just say… not amount of convincing and educating will get them online. They just aren’t that type. We also successfully managed to get mother-in-law on WebTV for a while, but F-I-L doesn’t like her spending time online. Hmm… So, till today we rely on good old snail mail which is just great because my kids like to write letters and make cards. But that also means months
can fly by until I have time to kick back and send them some pictures. Not good and you know, it feels terrible when they ask you to send pictures. Anyway, I saw this little Presto baby and thought this is really what we need. It’s a printer that sits in Grandma’s house, hooked up to the telephone line. At certain pre-programmed times, the printer will connect to a secret email address (supposedly only certain people can email to) and print any emails out including photos. The printer costs $149.99 and the monthly
service is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. You can also email from any regular email from anywhere. Pretty neat. I so wish they had this when my grandmother-in-law was around. Psstt… the printer is $20 less in Amazon last I checked.
