Love Ebooks? Here’s How To Save $359

Here’s what I don’t get. Ebooks have been around for a really long time. Fact. I’ve been reading ebooks since 1999 and no, I have never read an ebook on my PC. I take my ebooks with me – since 1999. Yeah. How?

The handy, dandy PDA.

KindleThere was no Kindle, no iPhone but I’ve been happily enjoying ebooks and news all this while.

Now I’m not bashing the Kindle. As a die hard gadget girl (mom now), I’d love, to have one. It does have its advantages but the PDA and regular smartphone is still serving me very well. I can’t quite justify the $359. Here’s what I am using currently to read my ebooks.

  • Palm T|X or
  • HTC Mogul – powered by Windows Mobile 6

Both phones have Mobipocket installed. Love it. If you already have a PDA even an older one or a phone, chances are you already can read a bunch of ebooks. Do a quick search for ebook readers for your device. Mobipocket happens to support a number of different platforms. You may want to start there too.

Fixing Discs With ToothPaste, MSG and Wood Polish

You’ve heard me mention how tired I am of the kids ruining our DVD’s and CD’s. My husband once counted up the costs of all the movies we bought for them, we have an average of a few thousand dollars worth of kid movies. Talk about OUCH! I saw this video on PopSci.com and thought – interesting. Haven’t tried any of it yet but thought I’d share the video.

Crop & Scrap

Do you love scrapbooking?  Piecing together the pictures and pages can entertain you for hours and leave you with fabulous results, beautiful scrapbooks and a ton of memories.  But maybe you want something extra special to make your books come to life and truly be beautiful.

A cropping machine can help you to create amazing embellishments to give your scrapbook that extra special touch and truly make it one of a kind.  The Cricut Personal Electronic Cutting Machine helps to save you hours of cutting by hand with scissors and aids you in creating the most amazing things for your scrapbook to truly make it special to you and your children, relatives or others you are preparing to share it with.

This is a wonderful investment for the tried and true scrapbooker.

Key Finder

I don’t know about you but i despise loosing my keys.  The issue around my house is that it isn’t normally me who “misplaces” them.  It is my children.  They seem to have a “fascination” with my keys and therefore they play with them and then stash them somewhere.  Then when I need them, they are no where to be found.

I could definitely use some help in this area.  Which is why a Wireless Key Finder is on my “must buy” list. I seriously need this to keep me sane and make my life a little easier.  It would definitely be worth the investment, saving me time, money and a few fights with my children.

Easy to use and a time saver for sure.  I plan to put this on my next year’s Christmas wish list.  What about you?

Get Your Print On

Birthday party invitations, grocery lists, pictures, and more, as moms we print and print alot.  Having a printer in your home that can help you with your various tasks and projects is a must.  The HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer can help you get all the things in your to do list printed and ready to go. You can even fax things, scan things, and print in color or black and white.

Having a printer at your fingertips is much easier than running to Kinkos or the printing place to get your to do list done, putting one more thing on your list. The ease and afford ability of having a multi-use printer is priceless.

My Dream Camera

I love to take pictures, especially digital pictures.  The ease of being able to save the good ones and erase the bad ones at the touch of a button.  My kids love digital too. They are running to look at the little screen on the back of the camera before I can get the picture taken almost.

I don’t have a nice digital camera, I have a pretty inexpensive one.  I would love this digital camera, a Canon Rebel with a nice lens to zoom in on the kids.  I am especially hoping to have one of these as my kids get bigger and start playing sports so that I can catch them in action.

One day I”ll have one of these and be snapping pictures till my heart is content.  What kind of camera do you have?  Do you dream of owning a better one too?

Ptotect Your Electronics

Lightening and storms are frequent this time of year.  Storms can often effect our electronics, power surging or completely burning up the items.  Protect your electronics properly by using a power Surge Protector to keep them safe.

If these electronics, especially computers are connected to a phone line you will want to protect that as well.  You can purchase power surge protectors that include phone and Ethernet ports as well.  Since you’re not always home to unplug purchasing this type of protection will ensure that your electronics remain safe and unharmed.

The small investment in the protection will be worth it to eliminate the thousands you would spend to replace the items if they were hit by lightening.
