I'm of the mindset that I just want my phone to be a phone. I don't mind having extra gadgets with me because what if the phone breaks? I'm sure backups of the mp3s are somewhere - but embarrassingly enough, I never figured out how to get the pictures off of my phone. So when it broke a few weeks ago, it took about 20 pictures with it. :( (Of course, I probably could have emailed them to myself LOL)

I had a phone with an mp3 player and it was great, had a 1gb memory card, not huge but enough for a few podcasts. had a great little video camera as well. Unfortunately there was an incident with a dodgy liquidizer and a milkshake ! only about 2 weeks after I got the phone and before you ask NO it wasn't insured !! anway that was the end of my combined phone and mp3 it was good while it lasted probably cos I knew no different, I'd never had an mp3 player before, but actually now that I've got separate mp3 and phone I prefer it !!

I had this same conversation with my brother a while back when I was deciding to go with a TREO or just a basic phone. I finally decided against it exactly for the reasons Tsoniki mentioned. When one thing breaks, it all breaks.

I've had enough heartache with my all-in-one printers to transfer over to the phone and phones cost more! :-D

Just gimme a phone that just plain works.
