Going To Use Gmail IMAP

Categories: Computer Gadgets

I’ve been using IMAP for several email accounts of mine for a while and love it. Getting tired of loading Gmail all the time. Besides. I don’t know about you, but Gmail seems to suck the resources out of my computer. Really look forward to using this new feature and not having to go multiple places to check email anymore woo hoo! Will report back about this later.

LOL! Thanks! I'm just crazy or really anal... depends on how you look at it. So yes, I like to organize my email into several categories (folders) in my outlook. The crazy organized part of me really hates the fact that in outlook the IMAP'd accounts open a totally new folder. I like it all to go to one place so that I can sort it accordingly. That actually sounds like a good post.... I'll have to shut up now and save it for my blog. ;-)

I recently tried IMAP, and realised that I much prefer to POP my accounts. I just like to have it all in my outlook instead of hanging out on the internet somewhere. With IMAP it's more like an exchange connection where everything still stays on the internet, and it kind of "syncs".

Hi Sarah, oh yes. And you don't have to do anything to 'sync' them either. The only thing about using IMAP is you have to becareful about those emails taking up all your space. With Gmail this is not such a big thing. But I have some accounts that are on my own web host. So sometimes you really have to discipline yourself about getting rid of some emails. I bet you are great at email organization too!
